OUR VISION: A world where everyone has a decent place to live.
OUR MISSION: Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
Who We Are
In 1986, a small group of caring individuals, led by local attorney Bernard Strasser founded the organization that would become Habitat for Humanity of Greater Volusia County. For more than 36 years, HFH of GVC has served the communities of Daytona Beach, DeBary, Deltona, Enterprise, Holly Hill, Orange City, Ormond Beach, Osteen, Port Orange, and South Daytona.
With the support of the faith, civic, and business communities, over 187 families now have a safe and decent place to lay their heads down at night.
As a recognized affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, HFH of Greater Volusia County faithfully tithes, helping to support the building of additional homes throughout the world.
What We Do
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit Christian housing ministry that engages people of all faith or no faith to work with families and individuals towards solutions to their housing needs.
Homeowner Candidates meet three main criteria: housing need, ability to pay, and willingness to partner. They contribute hundreds of “sweat equity” hours towards their down payment and purchase their home from HFH of Greater Volusia County at no profit. The Habitat for Humanity affiliate then provides a zero-interest mortgage to ensure affordability and sustainability for the life of the mortgage. All mortgage payments build equity for that homeowner and are reused by HFH of GVC to help support the building of future Habitat for Humanity homes.
